As we had celebrated the New Year, some of us may have our New Year’s Resolutions. I do have mine. It is to serve the Lord more serious.
I’m a Christian for nearly 20 years. I have a faith. I studied and read the Bible. I pray. I go to church every Sunday. I share my faith. But I realized that these are not enough. I realized that I haven’t been that serious in the service for our Lord. I realized that while serving Him, I still had reservations and serving Him half-heartedly. I have a fear that following Him entirely would cast me out from the society. But that’s the point of Christianity. Jesus already warned us about it; that following Him would make us different from this world and it will hate us for it (John 15:18).
As you can notice, one of my favorite Christian quotes was written by my favorite Christian writer, C.S. Lewis:
Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.
It says that Christianity is never slightly important. It will only be senseless or infinite important. If God doesn’t exist or if Jesus was not as He claims to be, our works as Christians are meaningless. But if everything that the Bible says are true, our service will not be in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). We know the many rewards that our Lord has promised us and aware of the punishments to those who rejected Him.
I realized how seriously that the Father loved us that He gave His only begotten Son and Jesus was so serious in His business that He willingly gave His life for us. In return, they deserve genuine faith, worship, and love from me. They both deserve nothing less than the best of what I have and what I can do.
They gave me the perfect home to live in. They gave me the perfect people for companion. They gave me perfect equipments to survive. They gave me pleasure and strength to heal. They gave me a chance to be with them when I failed them. They revealed themselves to me. There can be no more perfect things than these for me.
